When to Use

Use the EXTRACT function when you intend to process table information for use with the CA Datacom/DB Record Migration Facility utility (DDRMFLM) in fixed-block format or for use outside the CA Datacom environment. To back up a table in compressed form, you must use the BACKUP function for the entire data area that contains the table.
