A request to CLOSE a table that is not open is ignored by the Accounting Facility. Because the OPEN and CLOSE options are scheduled asynchronously, a CLOSE followed immediately by an OPEN can result in the table not being closed. If the table CLOSE has not started by the time the OPEN is received, the table is not closed (see ACCT OPEN (Open Accounting Tables)).
