The CCS preclassification agent is based on CA DataMinder File Scanning Agent technology. The preclassification agent scans and classifies documents offline and stores the resulting classifications in the Classification Cache.
Preclassifying documents avoids the need to retrieve and analyze document content in real time, so minimizing disruption to the user. For example, you can preclassify SharePoint documents so that authorized users can open these documents with minimal delay.
You manage classification service scans in the Administration console. The results of these scans are stored in a classification cache. If an external application subsequently requests a classification for a document already in the cache, CA DataMinder can rapidly pass the classification back to the external application without the need for further analysis.
Note: Unlike secondary CCS servers, the CCS preclassification agent is not parented to the primary CCS server. Instead, you specify which CCS server to use when you set up scanning jobs. You can specify any primary or secondary CCS server that is running the preclassification web service.
