SQL Server Logins

CA DataMinder needs two SQL Server logins that it can use to access the CMS database. These are the Primary User and Search User and both are created automatically during installation of the Base component.

Primary User

This is the main CA DataMinder database login which owns the schema.

WGNUSER_<ComputerName>
Search User

The iConsole and File Scanning Agent use this login when searching for events.

WGNSEARCH_<ComputerName>

This is a secure login subject to the default database security model. The security model determines which events a user is permitted to see when they run a search in the iConsole or Data Management console. (In technical terms, it controls access to events stored in the CMS database.)

Note: Using the Adminstration console, you can modify the default security model or add more security models for different users. For details, see the Adminstration console help.
