The File Scanning Agent (FSA) includes two major enhancements in the current release:
FSA jobs can be configured to scan Oracle and SQL Server databases. Specifically, the FSA can scan columns in database tables that contain text or binary data (see below). Data At Rest triggers can apply policy to the scanned data, generating database events that are searchable in the iConsole or Data Management console.
Note: Binary data refers to documents such as Microsoft Office files stored in a database. Note also that standard Data At Rest controls (such as Delete and Replace) are not supported for scanned database records.
Scanning jobs are now created and managed in the Administration console. A new wizard allows you to quickly set up new jobs to scan file systems, SharePoint sites, Exchange Public Folders or databases. Likewise, a new screen in the Administration console allows you to easily manage existing jobs (for example, to amend the scanning schedule or the scan locations).
