Announcements for 12.0

This section lists important changes in version 12.0 of CA DataMinder.

Oracle 9i no longer supported

The current version of CA DataMinder no longer supports Oracle 9i. If any existing CA DataMinder servers use Oracle 9i, you must upgrade the database engine to Oracle 10g before you upgrade CA DataMinder.

Direct import of IM conversations no longer supported

The current version of CA DataMinder no longer supports the direct import of IM conversations stored in .CNV files. However, it is still possible to import IM conversations embedded in EML files (Internet e-mails). For details, see the Upgrade Guide; search for 'discontinued features'.

Executive console no longer supported

The current version of CA DataMinder no longer supports the Executive console. Likewise, the Administration console no longer supports the statistics module (this module previously enabled administrators to configure the statistical data shown in the Executive console).

Registry keys must be migrated before upgrading

In 12.0, the registry key used by CA DataMinder components has changed since the previous release. New product installations automatically use the new CA DataMinder registry key, but upgrades require a manual registry fix. Specifically, before you upgrade any CA DataMinder server (including the CMS), or any client machine or utility machine, you must run the migreg.exe utility to copy existing registry values to the new key. The upgrade is blocked if the registry values have not been migrated.

For details, see the Upgrade Guide; search the index for 'pre-upgrade tasks'.

De-Duplication Filter for SEV now included in \Support folder

The \Win32\Support folder now includes the De-Duplication Filter for Symantec Enterprise Vault (SEV) in the \Sevddup subfolder. This filter prevents multiple copies of the same e-mail being archived in Enterprise Vault. It is implemented as a custom filter for Enterprise Vault, wgnsevdd.dll. For full details, see the 'De-Duplication Filter for Symantec Enterprise Vault' guide (DeDup.pdf), available from CA Support.

Administrator guide and iConsole guide no longer supported

The current version of CA DataMinder no longer supports an Administrator guide, Data Management Console guide, or iConsole guide. The information previously included in these guides is available instead in the online help for the Administration console, Data Management console and iConsole.

Note: The available product guides (such as the Deployment Guide and Database Guide) can be downloaded in .PDF format from CA Support.

CA DataMinder product guides no longer included in server.msi package

For the current version of CA DataMinder, the product guides (such as the Deployment Guide and Database Guide) are no longer included in the server.msi installation package. Instead, these guides can be downloaded in .PDF format from CA Support.
