When is Transmitted Data Not Compressed?
Under certain conditions, transmitted data is not compressed, even if the local machine specifies has Compress Transmitted Data? set to True. This happens when the sending and receiving machines have incompatible machine policy settings. Specifically, transmitted data is not compressed if:
- The receiving machine is not configured to store compressed data (that is, its Compress Stored Data? setting is set to False), or
- The sending and receiving machines use differing block sizes (that is, the Data File Block Size settings on the two machines are set to different values).
Note: You can find these setting in the Data Management folder of the machine policy.
