Web Actions

Web control actions govern how CA DataMinder handles unauthorized or borderline attempts to access Web pages, upload files or submit data to a Web site. CA DataMinder supports the following actions:

• Blocking users: If you block access to a specific Web page, CA DataMinder automatically redirects users to an alternate URL. For example, you can divert users to an Internet Usage page on your corporate intranet.

  Note: Users are not redirected if you block a data submission or file upload.

• Warning users: You can warn users when they try to browse specific Web pages, upload unauthorized files, or submit unauthorized data. The warning dialog lets the user choose whether to continue or not:

  If the user chooses to continue, they are allowed to browse the Web page, or complete the data submission or file upload, but CA DataMinder records the fact that they did this despite being explicitly warned against doing so.

• Informing users: If required, you can display an advisory dialog whenever CA DataMinder detects a Web page, file upload or data submission that may be significant. This is useful if, for example, you want to remind users that their data submissions are being monitored.
• Silent monitoring: If necessary, you can silently record visits to a Web page, file uploads, or data submissions. The user is completely unaware that their Web activity triggered a control event.
• Redirecting users: If a Web page is blocked, or a user accepts a warning, you can redirect them to an alternative URL.
• Capturing Web activity: Web capture actions let you capture the actual Web page, data submission or file upload. You can specify how much detail is captured. For example, you can capture or ignore Web page images.

  Any Web control action can also invoke a capture action.
