CA Data Protection machines are organized into hierarchical branches, with the CMS as the top level server. Below the CMS, each branch of the hierarchy is managed by a gateway. Each gateway serves multiple endpoint computers. This type of distributed deployment provides resilience, network load balancing, and allows you to quickly and selectively roll out machine policies across your organization.
Note: You can install CA Data Protection consoles on any computer that can connect to the CMS.
