You can specify the sampling rate so that only a subset of events that match the trigger criteria cause the trigger to fire. The sampled events percentage is calculated as shown below:
Number of sampled events percentage = 100/Sampling Rate
For instance, if you enter 1, every event matching the trigger criteria causes the trigger to fire. If you enter 20, 5% of all matching events (that is, one in 20 matching events) results in the trigger firing. If you enter 1000, 0.1% of all matching events (that is, one in 1000 matching events) results in the trigger firing.
Earlier, you could specify only a whole number for sampling rate, that is, a maximum of 50% of all matching events were returned. CA Data Protection 15.0 enables you to specify the sampling percentage with decimals. For instance, if you enter 1.2, 83% of all matching events results in the trigger firing.
