Set a Password for the NBA Console User

You use the admin and webadmin user accounts to log onto the NBA console. You must choose a more secure password for these accounts before you start using the NBA.

• On Bivio 2000 appliances, the default username and password are both ‘admin’.
• On Bivio 7000 appliances or the Linux Server Platform, they are both ‘webadmin’.

Note: For Bivio 2000 appliances, the ‘admin’ user (see step 4 below) is an alternative name for the NBA console user. Both refer to the same user account. Likewise, for Bivio 7000 appliances and the Linux Server Platform, the ‘webadmin’ user (see step 5) is an alternative name for the NBA console user.

To set a new password

1. Connect to the NBA using the IP address you assigned to the management port (see the previous section).
2. In the NBA Logon screen, supply the default username and password.
3. Go to the Administration screen.
4. (Bivio 2000 appliances only) Go to the Access Control section:
   1. Enter the new password for the ‘admin’ user.

      The maximum length for this new password is 8 characters.

   2. Click Modify to confirm the change.
5. (Bivio 7000 appliances only) Go to the Password for 'webadmin' User Account and FTP Server for 'admin' User Account sections.
   1. Enter the new passwords for the ‘webadmin’ and 'admin' user accounts.

      The maximum length for this new password is 8 characters.

   2. Click Apply to confirm the change.
6. (Linux Server Platform only) Go to the Password for ‘webadmin’ User Account and FTP Server for ‘smb’ User Account sections.
   1. Enter the new passwords for the ‘webadmin’ and ‘smb’ user accounts.
   2. Click Apply to confirm the change.
