Schedule Data Warehouse Purges
We recommend that you schedule data warehousing jobs and purges for offpeak times.
- Schedule Data Warehousing Jobs for Offpeak Times
-
The Data Warehouse tables contain event data that has been extracted and transformed from source tables in the CMS database.
Such data processing can generate a heavy workload on the CMS. We therefore recommend that you run data warehousing jobs during offpeak times.
- Schedule Data Purges for Offpeak Times
-
Purging large amounts of data from the Data Warehouse generates a heavy workload on the CMS. We therefore recommend that you run data purges during offpeak times.
- For Oracle CMSs, a partition-based purging scheme is easily the most efficient way of purging data from your CMS database.
- For SQL Server CMSs, where partitioning support is not currently available, we recommend less frequent but larger purges. You can also improve purge performance by temporarily dropping secondary indexes.
