CPSA Optional Registry Changes

To configure the CPSA, you can edit the following automatic registry values on each host machine. Briefly, you can define a list of applications you want the agent to ignore (if required) and set the log level. To do this, you modify values in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA DLP\CurrentVersion\ClientPrintAgent

Within this registry key, the registry values you can edit are:

IgnoredApplicationList

Type: REG_SZ

Data: Defaults to empty. This specifies a semicolon-separated list of applications that are exempted from CPSA control. Users are permitted to print documents using these applications. For example, you may not want to monitor the printing of documents from graphics packages.

Note: For changes to this registry setting to take effect, you must restart any relevant application.

LogLevel

Type: REG_DWORD

Data: Defaults to 2. This determines the level of logging for the Client File Print System Agent. For example, you can configure the agent to only log errors or important system messages. Log entries are written to the Activity log (viewable in the Administration console). The supported logging levels are:

1 Errors only

2 Errors and warnings

3 As 2, plus informational and status messages

Note: Setting LogLevel=3 will cause the log file to grow extremely rapidly. This level of logging is provided for testing and diagnostic purposes, for example, it shows storage and retrieval on every resource item.
