Important! Before using CA DLP for the first time after installation, we recommend that you set up a purging strategy, especially for your gateway servers and client machines.
This section describes the various strategies available for purging events from CA DLP databases. Briefly, you edit the machine policy to specify the frequency and scope of purges on an individual CA DLP computer. This section provides of an overview of how to configure purging. For full details, see the Administration Guide.
This chapter also provides an overview of how the CA DLP infrastructure invokes stored procedures (SPs) when purging the database. CA DLP provides various public purge SPs, or you can design your own custom purge SPs, including SPs to run immediately before or after a purge.
Note: This section focuses solely on purges driven by the CA DLP infrastructure. Partition-based purges are documented later in this guide.
