In active mode, the NBA uses the CA DLP Socket API to pass captured emails and files to policy engines via a socket connection. You can configure the NBA to pass data directly to multiple policy engines or to a hub, which then distributes emails to remote policy engines. See below for details.
In either case, when you install the Socket API it defaults to use port 8539 for socket connections. You will reference this port number when you configure the NBA. Specifically, the <analyzeservers> tag in nbapolicy.xml includes references to this port number.
