Transaction Group Definitions

Transaction groups are used for CICS and IMS to group similar transactions together for monitoring purposes. These transactions can be for the same application or performance profile. With CA Cross-Enterprise APM, these groups are available for metric viewing and dashboard creation.

The IMS and CICS groups can consist of one or many transactions. Groups that are created in CA SYSVIEW automatically appear in CA APM in the next metric update interval.

GROUPS Command

The GROUPS command enables you to create IMS transaction groups in a CA SYSVIEW region.

IMS transaction groups are defined across all IMS subsystems you want to have them configured in, not per IMS subsystem.

The following example shows the panel that the command displays:

Cmd Group Type Exclude Member Description ____ ?AddGrp ?type n/a n/a ?description ____ ALERTS TRAPDEST INCLUDE ?AddMember SNMP trap destinations ____ CICSMAIL EMAIL INCLUDE ?AddMember CICS Alert email list ____ . . RAINER.JAENICKE@CA.COM . ____ CICSWILY PORTLIST INCLUDE ?AddMember Wily APM portlist ____ . . 15029 . ____ HCHKCMON CICSPLEX INCLUDE ?AddMember Health Check monitored ____ . . * . ____ IMSMAIL EMAIL INCLUDE ?AddMember IMS Alert email list ____ IMSTSF IMSID INCLUDE ?AddMember CA Chorus - TSF IMS IDs ____ . . * . ____ . IMSTRAN INCLUDE ?AddMember CA Chorus - TSF IMS Tra ____ . . * . ____ IMSWILY PORTLIST INCLUDE ?AddMember Wily APM portlist ____ . . 15029 . ____ MQSMAIL EMAIL INCLUDE ?AddMember WebSphere MQ Alert emai

The first line enables you to add a group. The values that are prefixed with a question mark (?) indicate type-over fields.

To create an IMS transaction group

  1. Complete all the type-over fields. The following fields have special requirements:
    Group

Defines a name for the group.

    Limits: Seven characters

    Type

Specifies the group type. Specify IMSTRAN for an IMS transaction group.

    Press Enter.

The panel is refreshed to show the new group with the Member field primed for input.

  2. Enter a name of a transaction that you want to add to the group in the Member field.

The panel is refreshed to show the added transaction member.

  3. Repeat Step 2 for each transaction that you want to add.

Repeat this procedure for each group you want to create.

CGROUPS Command

The CGROUPS command enables you to create CICS transaction groups.

To see all the monitored CICS regions on the system, enter CGROUPS SYS on the command line.

The following example shows the panel that the command displays:

Cmd Jobname Group Type Exclude Member Descr ____ P$OMC41T ?AddGrp ?type n/a n/a ?desc ____ QACQ410 ?AddGrp ?type n/a n/a ?desc ____ QACQ420 ?AddGrp ?type n/a n/a ?desc ____ P$OMC41T ALERTS TRAPDEST INCLUDE ?AddMbr ENF T ____ QACQ410 ALERTS TRAPDEST INCLUDE ?AddMbr ENF T ____ QACQ420 ALERTS TRAPDEST INCLUDE ?AddMbr ENF T ____ P$OMC41T CICS CICSTRAN INCLUDE ?AddMbr CICS ____ . . . CEBR . ____ . . . CECI . ____ . . . CEDA . ____ . . . CEMT . ____ QACQ410 CICS CICSTRAN INCLUDE ?AddMbr CICS ____ . . . CEBR . ____ . . . CECI . ____ . . . CEDA .

Each monitored CICS region has its own line. The line enables you to add a group to a region. The values that are prefixed with a question mark (?) indicate type-over fields.
