An Operating System Variable Does Not Have a Value

Symptom:

I defined a CA ControlMinder operating system variable to point to a location on an endpoint. When I use this variable in a rule in a policy, CA ControlMinder does not enforce the rule because the operating system variable does not have a value.

Solution:

Verify that the environment variable exists in the operating system on the endpoint.

To verify that the variable exists in the operating system

  1. Verify that the CA ControlMinder variable is defined as an operating system variable (OSVAR type).
  2. Verify that the operating system variable exists in the operating system, as follows:
