There is a properties file for each server component in the system, with the exception of the Layer 7 Gateway servers. Before beginning installation for a given component, you complete the properties file for that component, filling in environment information such as system and database user names, passwords and host names. During installation, these properties files distribute the information throughout the environment, enabling components to function properly and communicate with one another.
Important! It is critical that you back up these properties files once you have completed them, and retain them in a secure location.
You will need them during future upgrades and for general reference These properties files are maintained in a temp folder on each system. If the system is shut down or restarted, the completed properties file is lost. Therefore, attentive backup and storage of these files is crucial. More information on backing up these files is provided in the installation steps for each component.
