VMware Virtual Center Password Utility
CA NSM SPO is integrated with VMware Virtual Center (version 2.5 and 4.0) using the CA VMware Virtual Center Sponsor (caslvmvcps). The CA VMware virtual center sponsor uses CA Virtual Center Proxy Service to gather the required performance metrics.
To enable this feature:
To install and run the CA VMware Virtual Center Proxy Service, you need VMware virtual center credentials during installation. These credentials are used by the proxy service to authenticate valild VC Server users. You can enter these credentials in the VMware Virtual Center Credentials dialog.
Use the VMware Virtual Center Credentials dialog to enter the following details:
To change the port, cancel the installation and start again to enter a new port.
Note: The default port is 42511. If this port is in use then enter any free port from 1024 to 65535.
Use the VMware Virtual Center Password Utility if you change the Windows credentials.
The CA NSM VC Proxy Service logon and Windows logon credentials are same. The proxy service uses these credentials to create a session. If you change the Windows credentials it breaks the session. So it is mandatory to update and recycle this service after changing the user credentials.
To run the VMware Virtual Center Update Password Utility:
The Save Authentication dialog appears.
The cavmvcauth dialog appears. The utility updates the user and Proxy Service credentials and starts the Proxy Service recycling operation.
The proxy services now uses the new credentials.
