How You Program a Customized SSL Environment
We encourage you to create a customized SSL environment. Customization involves creating new certificates using OpenSSL tools. CCISSF has no special restrictions on the data within certificates. Any validly formatted SSL certificate will work. CAICCI lets you retrieve data in the following fields from a certificate:
- Serial Number
- Common Name
- Locality
- State or Province
- Country
- Organization
- Organizational Unit
- Email Address
- Not Valid Before Date
- Not Valid After Date
- Issuer Common Name
- Issuer Locality
- Issuer State or Province
- Issuer Country
- Issuer Organization
- Issuer Organizational Name
- Issuer Email Address
Additionally, the following popular certificate extensions can be retrieved:
- Basic Constraints
- Key Usage
- Subject Alternate Name
- Issuer Alternate Name
Additional fields can be defined in the provided CAICCI header file but are not supported by CAICCI at this time.
