Configuring CA HIPS for Client Automation Installation

If you are installing Client Automation on a machine that has a CA Host-Based Intrusion Prevention System (CA HIPS) client installed, you must configure the CA HIPS server before you can install Client Automation on the client machine.

To configure CA HIPS for Client Automation installation

  1. On the CA HIPS server machine, log on to the CA HIPS console.
  2. Click Policy Management, Definitions, Application Repository.
  3. If the groups list does not contain a SafeApps group, create a group called SafeApps and follow these steps:
    1. Click Policy Management, Definitions, Common Settings, OS System Security Globals.
    2. Select SafeApps in the Application Group to Bypass User Mode Hooks drop-down list and click OK.
    3. Click Policy Management, Definitions, Application Repository.
  4. Select the group SafeApps.
  5. Click Add New and enter the following details to define the setup.exe:

  1. Click OK.
  2. Click Add New and enter the following details to define the CACMS.MSI:

  1. Click OK.
  2. Click Policy Management, Deployment.
  3. Click Deploy.
  4. Specify a version number and click OK.
  5. Wait for the policy to be activated on the CA HIPS client machine.

    The CA HIPS client machine is now ready for the Client Automation installation.
