Register Desktop Migration Solution Software Delivery Package

You must register the migration solution package with software delivery so that the store and apply procedures are available when you create the Software Template. After registering the package, modify the store and apply procedures in the package as install procedures. This change enables the procedures to run unattended and without a Unicenter Desktop DNA installation on target computers.

To register and modify the migration solution package

  1. Open DSM Explorer and navigate to Software, Software Package Library.
  2. Right-click the folder in which you want to import the package and select Import, Software Package.

    The Register Software package dialog opens.

  3. Specify the path to the migration solution package and click OK.

    The package is imported under the folder.

  4. Open the package you imported and double-click Procedures.

    All the DMM procedures in the packages are displayed.

  5. Do the following steps on Apply DNA For Computer and Store DNA For Computer procedures:
    1. Right-click the procedure and select New Based On.

      The Register Procedure dialog opens.

    2. Change the name of the procedure in the Name field. Select Install in the Task field. Click OK.

      A new install procedure is created with the name you specified.

    The new store and apply procedures are available install procedures.

  6. Right-click the new apply procedure and select Properties.

    The Properties dialog opens.

  7. Click the Embedded File tab and remove "-w_dms" in the Parameters field.

    The "-w_dms" switch requires user interaction. To enable automated migration to perform migration without user interaction, you must remove this parameter.

  8. Click OK.

    The migration solution package and the procedures are ready for deployment using automated migration. Use the new procedures in the Software Template.
