The CMP Editor lets you add, delete, modify, and export the files that are contained in a compressed format in the filesn.cmp or ufilesn.cmp archive files (CMP archive files).
The filesn.cmp or ufilesn.cmp archive files contain all relevant files, directories, or information that is generated automatically during product packaging and is needed for the later product installation, in a compressed file format.
As CMP archive files greater than 2 Gbytes cannot be created by the Packager and handled by the CMP Editor, the Packager creates multiple CMP archive files of limited size. The file names of these files are enhanced with a sequence number, for example, files1.cmp, files2.cmp, and so on. These file names are added to the #CmpArchives# section of the files.sxp or ufiles.sxp archive files.
The CMP Editor opens when you double-click one of the filesn.cmp or ufilesn.cmp icons on the Packager GUI.
The filesn.cmp archive files contain compressed copies of all files installed during the packaging process.
In the Packager GUI, the filesn.cmp archive files are represented by the following icon:
The ufilesn.cmp archive files contain all user-specific files created during reference installation of a generated Windows product.
