Upgrade Considerations for Version 13.0

This section provides information about installation and upgrade changes for Version 13.0.

New Installer

The new v13.0 installer includes two components: the v12.1.1 installer and the v13.0 upgrade program.

The installer takes the following actions automatically:

• If your current CA Clarity PPM version is earlier than v12.1.1, the new installer runs the 12.1.1 upgrade automatically before running the 13.0 upgrade process.
• If your current version is v12.1.1, the new installer goes directly to the 13.0 upgrade process.

Database Template Image for New Installations

If you install CA Clarity PPM v13.0 as a fresh (new) install, import the CA Clarity PPM 13.0 database template image before you install. CA Clarity PPM now uses a backup-based database deployment mechanism. Instead of building the database at installation time, CA Clarity PPM provides a prebuilt, fully-populated database backup base image on the installation DVD. The base image contains everything that a new CA Clarity PPM installation requires.

The DVD contains the following:

• Microsoft SQL Server base image, compatible with all supported SQL Server versions.
• Oracle base image, compatible with all supported Oracle versions.

New Log File Names

Log file names have changed. Previously, log files had the name format *-niku.log (for example, bg-niku.log). This format has been changed to *-ca.log (for example, bg-ca.log).

Dropped Languages

The following languages are not available for CA Clarity PPM v13:

• Korean
• Simplified Chinese
• Traditional Chinese

During an upgrade, existing users of these languages are reset to use English.
