You can create role profiles.

To create a role profile

    The Resource List page appears.

  2. Click New.

The Select Resource Type page appears.

  3. For Resource or Role, select "Role."
  4. For Resource Type, select the type of resource you want to create. "Labor" is the default resource type.
  5. Click Next.

The Create Role - Labor page appears.

  6. In the General sections, complete the following fields:
    Name

Required. Type in a name for the role.

    Role ID

Required. Type in a unique identifier for the role.

    Parent Role

Click the Browse icon to select a parent role for the role you are creating. For example, you could associate a role called "Web Developer" with a parent role called "Application Developer."

    Category

Use this field to enter a category for the role that might help to define its area of work. For example, you could enter "Software Development" or "Product Marketing."

    Availability

For labor, equipment, materials resource types. Enter the number of hours in a business day that the role (or the resource replacing the role) will be expected to work. The default number for this field is 8, which you can change at any time.

CA Clarity PPM automatically multiplies the availability number by 5, which is the number of days in a standard work week. For example, if you enter 7, CA Clarity PPM will assume that the resource is able to work 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 35 hours per week. If you use the default of 8, CA Clarity PPM will assume that the resource is available to work 8 hours a day for a total of 40 hours per week.

  7. In the Organizational Breakdown Structure section, click the Browse icon next to the OBS you want to associate with the role for security, organizational, or reporting purposes.
  8. Click Submit.
