Configure and Launch the Alerts Module

The Alerts module lets you monitor and investigate alerts from the workspace as they are generated. The alert provides immediate knowledge about a problem that is occurring on the system. The Alerts module displays only current information.

As a security administrator, you want to be aware of alerts as they happen. With an active Alerts module on your dashboard, you can see if the employee in question tries to access the payroll data set. To do so, create a dashboard that is named Security Alerts and add the Alerts module to that dashboard.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click the plus sign next to the Dashboard tab, and click Create a Dashboard.

The Create a Dashboard dialog appears.

  2. Enter a name and (optional) description for the dashboard, and click Add Dashboard.
    Dashboard Name

Up to 21 characters. Character types include numerics (0 through 9), alpha (a to z and A to Z), underscores, and blank spaces.

    Example: Security Alerts

  3. From the Module Library, add the Alerts module to your customized dashboard.
  4. Click the link to configure alerts.
  5. Select Security Alerts from the Alert Source drop-down list, and click Save.

The Security Alerts module appears on your customized dashboard.

You have created an alert to monitor the payroll data set. If the employee in question tries to gain access to the payroll data set, an alert appears in the Alert module for investigation.
