The Query Tool provides an easy way to execute SQL SELECT queries against the model or against a database catalog. You can execute a query against the objects and properties in the current model, the metadata defining those objects and properties, and the action log that records the changes that are made to your model during the modeling session.
You can create new queries, open existing query files, or paste text from another source (such as a *.sql file) into a query.
Sample SQL queries based on the r7.2.x Report Template Builder reports are installed with the product in the \ODBC Reports\RTB Queries folder. Click the Open Query item on the Query Tool toolbar to open a sample report. Each sample report includes a comment summarizing the purpose of the query.
For more information on working with the Query Tool, see the ODBC Reporting Guide, which is located in the Doc subdirectory of your CA ERwin Data Modeler installation. You can also open this document from a shortcut on the Start menu.
