Create a Valid Value List
The validation rules that you create can establish a value, a list of values, or a range of acceptable values to store in a table, column, entity, or attribute. Use the Validation Rules dialog to create a valid value list for your validation rules.
To create a valid value list
- Click Validation Rules on the Model menu.
The Validation Rules dialog opens.
- Select a validation rule from the Validation Name list for which you want to create a valid value list or add a new validation rule, then click the General tab.
The General tab opens.
- Select the Valid Values List option.
The Valid Value grid appears.
- Click the empty cell in the Valid Value column, enter a new name, then do one of the following:
- Enter the definition for the value in the Definition field.
- Copy valid values from another validation rule.
- Click the Import button to select the .csv or .txt file that contains the valid values you want to import.
- (Optional) Specify one or more of the following options:
- Select the Quote check box to enclose each value in the valid value in single quotation marks.
- Select the NOT check box to invert the expression.
- Click the Display Value field and enter the value that you want to display in the end-user application.
- Click OK.
The valid value list is defined and the Validation Rules dialog closes.
