Add an SQL Adapter

SQL adapters are basically the use of the SQL adapter generic component (SQL adapter executable) with the appropriate settings in the configuration file. The SQL adapter can connect to all data sources that support ODBC and OLE-DB. Connection is established via connection string. The appropriate driver should be installed on the server on which the adapter is installed.

SQL adapters are created using the Adapter Wizard, which is composed of the following four-step procedure:

• General

  Contains general information about the adapter, the way it is interfaced with CA Business Service Insight and the way it is processed and monitored.

• Connection
• Contains information about the way to communicate with the database.
• Data Source Interface

  Contains information about how to define the connection to the database and the queries used to retrieve the data.

• Mapping
  • Contains information about the structure of the input received from the data source.
  • Contains information about the way the input is translated into output events that can be sent to CA Business Service Insight.
  • Contains information about which output events are sent to CA Business Service Insight and on what condition.

To add an SQL adapter

In the Adapters page click Add New/SQL adapter. The Adapter Wizard page General step is displayed.
