Business Logic Step
The Business Logic step is split into two panes:
- Mapping pane that contains:
- The function interfaces, each one opens as a grid of fields’ name and type.
- Data interfaces, which is a list of event type structures, each one opens as a grid of fields’ name and type.
- Business Logic pane that contains:
- Quick Metric Name
- Objective Statement, which shows the objective statement behind the selected function and allows editing capabilities.
In the Business Logic pane:
- In Name, type the name of the name of the quick metric.
- Click
to add functions.
The Functions window opens.
- Select a function with which to create the quick metric. You can use the search mechanism to narrow the selection.

Search for function using the search engine.
- Click OK.
The Business Logic step opens showing the selected function in the table and its objective statement.
- Click
to select event that is used for calculations.
The Data Select window where the user defines a filter on the raw data events opens.
- In Filter by Event Type, select an event type by which the data definition is filtered. You may select an adapter to specify only the event types related to that adapter.
- In Filter by Resources, click Add to select specific resources that further filter the events that are used for calculations using the Find mechanism. To remove a resource from the list, click Remove.
- In Filter by Fields, define the values of the event type fields that further filter the events that are used for calculations. You may select or values that exist in a list of values by changing the operator ‘=’ to “in”.
- In the Data Preview pane you can see results of the defined filter by clicking Preview. In addition, you can filter the Data Preview pane by changing the time range.
Note: Changing the time range affects only on the Data Preview pane and not the raw data events that are used for calculations.
- Click OK. The Business Logic step opens showing the selected input data in the table.
- Drag a Data field to the appropriate Function field to map them.
- Click Save and Next.
The Quick Metric is saved and the Report step opens.
- Click Cancel to abort the creation process and return to the Quick Metrics page.
