To modify the terms of an Effective contract you must create a new version of the contract. When creating a new contract version, all contract details (other than the contract party, the time zone and the currency) may be modified.
If the start date of the new version begins immediately, it becomes Effective as soon as it is committed. Otherwise, the new version has the status of Pending until the start date arrives. If the new version partially overlaps the previous version, the status of the previous version changes to Not Effective when the new version becomes Effective. If the two versions overlap completely, the status of the previous version changes to Canceled.
Versions are automatically numbered sequentially by the system.
Note: Workflow-enabled versions of a contract have to go through the workflow process before being committed.
Follow these steps:
The Contract Details page opens.
Note: The contract must be in Effective status and with no versions in New status to create a new version.
The new version of the contract is added to the contract and the Contract Details page is enabled for editing the contract metrics. For more information, see Modifying a metric.
Note: Committing a new version of a contract is performed in the same way as activating a new contract. If the contract is in Pending status, a new version cannot be created. Instead, it must be uncommited.
