Frequently Asked Questions

Property Details

Complete the following fields:

Application Settings
Application Type

Specify Web to create a Web application.

Application Name

Defines a name for the Web application. The management console prepends this name to the application it creates from each resource path you specify. For example, if you name the application CA Applications, and you specify a resource path for SuperAgent and NetQoS Performance Center, the management console creates:

  • CA Applications - SuperAgent
  • CA Applications - NetQoS Performance Center
Make this a Priority Application

(Optional) Specifies that you do not want the management console to groom or filter the application.

Port

Defines TCP-80, TCP-8080, or a custom port range using the beginning and ending ports for the URLs you want to monitor.

Incident Response

(Optional) Specifies an application incident response to specify how the management console responds to a network or server incident that affects the application.

Availability Monitoring

(Optional) Specifies whether to enable or disable availability monitoring on the application. When enabled, the management console passively observes the availability of the application, and if necessary, actively checks its availability.

Notes

(Optional) Defines additional information about the server configuration; for example, type the name of the originator or requestor, a statement about the server’s purpose, and the contacts responsible for applications and troubleshooting.

URLs to Monitor

Specify at least one HTTP resource path that you want to monitor across all of the servers that are assigned to the application.

URL Description

Defines a name that corresponds to the resource path that you want to monitor on the Web server. The management console creates an application to monitor matching HTTP traffic, and names the application by combining the Web application name and the URL Description. For example, if the Web application is named CA Applications and the URL description is NetQoS Performance Center, the management console names the application CA Applications - NetQoS Performance Center.

URL

Defines the resource path that identifies the HTTP traffic you want to monitor. For example, if you want to monitor the response time of all port 80 traffic to the CA Performance Center, specify /npc.

Virtual Hostname

Defines the host name of the Web site. To monitor:

  • The default Web site on a server, leave this field blank.
  • A name-based virtual host, specify the virtual host name. For example, if you want to monitor the Search resource on the Example1.org Web site, specify Example1.org.
