Frequently Asked Questions

Server Subnet List

View and manage server subnets to specify a range of IP addresses that represents the application servers that you want the management console to monitor. If necessary, add exclusions to ignore traffic from particular servers within a server subnet.

Description

Provide details about the server subnet, such as the server VLAN traffic that can be monitored by the server subnet.

Subnet

Displays the server subnet definition.

Exclusions

Displays the number of exclusions that have been defined to filter out matching server traffic in the server subnet

Apps

Displays the number of applications that the management console has observed on the server subnet.

Servers

Displays the number of matching servers that the management console has observed on the server subnet.

Server List

View and manage the servers that are monitored by the management console. If you do not see a particular server, go to the Server Subnet List and verify that a matching server subnet exists. For each IPv4-based server in the list, the management console automatically monitors application traffic and creates a corresponding /32 client network.

Add Server

The management console automatically populates the Server List with observed server traffic that corresponds to the server subnets you specify.

If you want to assign a server to an application before the management console has observed its traffic, click to add the server, and then assign the server to the application.

Search

Enter a search string to find partial matches. Wild card characters are not supported. To reset the list, click Clear.

Server

Displays the host name of the server.

Address

Displays the IP address of the server.

Monitor Device

Displays the assigned monitoring device on the corresponding CA Standard Monitor or CA Multi-Port Monitor.

Apps

Lists the number of application ports that the management console has observed on the server. Click the magnifying glass to see the actual port numbers.

If the port number is well known, the magnifying glass displays the well-known application name. The list of observed application ports does not include applications that you have created manually.

Bytes

Reports the server traffic, in bytes, that was observed by the assigned monitor feed. Use this information to identify your busiest servers.

User Modified?

Indicates whether a management console administrator has changed the default properties for the server.

Last Seen

Displays a timestamp of the most recent 5-minute interval during which the management console reported application traffic on a server.

If the Last Seen status is Inactive, the management console did not collect application response time data for the server in the past 7 days.

Tip: To collect data, an application must meet the management console threshold for Network Round Trip Time observations.
