Prerequisites

Prerequisites for adding a NI GigaStor monitoring device are listed below:

• The Alarm Notification Manager software is installed on the NI GigaStor. If you are upgrading the [assign itcm product name for the adsm variable], you can download the Alarm Notification Manager upgrade program from the CA Support website at http://ca.com/support.
• Install the Alarm Notification Manager in Expert Mode. The CA [assign itcm product name for the adsm variable] requires Expert Mode. If the Alarm Notification Manager is not installed in Expert Mode, the CA [assign itcm product name for the adsm variable] will fail to connect to CA Application Delivery Analysis.
• The time and date on the NI GigaStor are configured to match the time and date on its assigned CA Standard Monitor or CA Multi-Port Monitor.

  The performance data collected by a NI GigaStor is time stamped using the time stamp of its assigned monitor. If you configured the monitor to use the Network Time Protocol (NTP), configure NTP on the NI GigaStor.

• The monitoring device ratio is sized properly.
• A CA Standard Monitor or CA Multi-Port Monitor is available to process digest files from the [assign itcm product name for the adsm variable] into response time data. To maximize the available resources on a CA Standard Monitor, disable packet monitoring when you add the CA Standard Monitor.
• The management console can communicate with the NI GigaStor on TCP-1001.
• The NI GigaStor can communicate with its assigned CA Standard Monitor or CA Multi-Port Monitor on UDP-9995.
• The management console users who want to open a packet capture investigation on the NI GigaStor can communicate with the NI GigaStor on TCP-25901 through TCP-25903.
• You can access the NI GigaStor by Remote Desktop with Windows Terminal Services (RDP) on TCP-3389.
