Hotfix hf9479

Release date: 2015-2-17

Applicability:

hf9479 is a mandatory hotfix for CA AppLogic 3.7.14 and 3.8.6. This hotfix cannot be used with other versions of CA AppLogic.

The hotfix resolves the CVE-2015-0235 (GHOST) security vulnerability by updating the standard appliances included in the catalog with an updated version of glibc and nscd packages. In addition, all appliances in the /system, /dynamic, /filer catalogs are updated as well as VDS and VDS64 applications. Catalog volumes are resized to accommodate the additional installed packages.

Before the update, all applications that use catalog appliances must be stopped. If not stopped, these appliances will not be updated. Only the standard catalog appliances, supplied by CA as a part of original distribution, are updated. Any singletons, derived from these appliances, or any singletons created manually, or applications provisioned using VDS* templates are not updated automatically. These require a manual update.

Due to requirement for several resize operations for each volume being updated, the hotfix application process may take significant time of an hour and more, depending on the available grid resources.

A grid reboot is not required for the update to take effect.
