Applicability

hf9459 is an optional enhancement to CA AppLogic versions 3.7.14 and 3.8.6 for the INSSLR2 appliance instance during the asymmetric mode of operation. The enhancement enables the control transfer back to the master INSSLR2 appliance instance when it passes the health check. This occurs without flapping.

This hotfix cannot be used with other versions of CA AppLogic. The hotfix modifies files on the boot volume of the INSSLR2 appliance residing in the system catalog. The hotfix takes effect immediately upon successful installation. No grid reboot is required; however, running applications using the INSSLR2 appliance instance from the system catalog will need restarting.

Manually Updating Singletons

The hf9459 installs a patch file named hf9459.patch into the download directory on the grid controller. You can use the hf9459 patch to update singleton appliances manually, as needed.

To apply the patch, perform the following steps:

Log into the running singleton appliance.
```
comp login <component-name>
```

Retrieve the IP address for accessing the grid controller from the appliance.

cat /tmp/acs-dhclient-options | grep new_dhcp_server_identifier | awk -F"=" '{print $2}'

Retrieve the patch file from the download directory on the controller. [ipaddress] is the IP address of the grid controller.
```
wget http://[ipaddress]:8080/download/hf9459.patch
```
Apply the patch.
```
patch -p0 < hf9459.patch
```
For the updates to take affect, restart the appliance.
```
comp restart <component-name> 
```
