Using the Monitor Interface

Views

The Monitor allows you to have multiple view, each containing its own graphs. You can have as many views as you like.

To change the current view select it from the drop-down menu.

Make the current view the default button

Makes the current view default so it is opened when you first access the Monitor. When you make changes to a view they are automatically saved so the next time you access the Monitor, you will find the views in the same state.

Graphs

Each view contains graphs displaying one or more performance and resource usage statistics. You can have as many graphs as you want in a view, you can even put one graph over another.

You may perform the following actions for a graph:

Add Graph

To add a graph to your current view use the "add graph" button in the Monitor. Each graph can display up to 12 counters. Select a counter to display by choosing:

To add a counter to the graph, double-click the name in the Counters select box or select the name and click the right arrow between Counters and Selected Counter.

Delete a counter

To delete a counter, select the counter from the Selected Counter box and click the left arrow or double-click the counter name in Selected Counter.

Change the color of a counter

Each counter has its own color and you can change the color.

To change the color of a counter, select the counter in Selected Counter and select a color from the color drop-down on the right.
The actual look of the graph as it will be shown in your view can be seen in the Preview section. Each change you make to the graph is immediately propagated to the Preview.

In the Graph Preferences section you can specify the following properties:

Edit Graph

To edit an existing graph, click on its edit icon in the top right corner. This will open the same menu that is used for adding graphs where you can change all properties of the graph and observe the changes in the Preview section.

You can also edit the graph legend and graph title in the Preview section when adding/editing graphs.

Move Graph

You can move the graphs in you view and arrange them according to you preferences. To move a graph, click on its canvas and drag it to the desired place.

Pause Graph

If you need to pause a graph (so you can examine the counter values or take a screen shot) click on the pause button in the view title bar. Click again to resume counter monitoring.

Collapse Graph

You can collapse a graph when you don`t want to view the counter data (for example to free space on the monitor canvas). Clicking the collapse icon in the top right corner will leave only the graph`s title bar visible. To expand the graph back, click on the expand button.

Lights Out

You can change the color of the background to black (that is, turn the lights out) by clicking on the 'light' button in the view title bar. Click again to make the background white again (that is, turn the lights back on).

Annotations

You can add one or more notes or annotations to the view such as describing what a particular graph means or to show groups of similar graphs.

Create an Annotation

To create an annotation, click the Add Annotation button in the view title bar.

Edit an Annotation

To edit an annotation, click the annotation text box that is on the graph canvas.

Change the Background of an Annotation

To change the color of an annotation background, click the icons in the bottom left corner of the annotation text box.

Resize an Annotation

To resize an annotation, click the lower right corner and then drag the mouse.
