When importing an application from a remote grid, the Application Import Wizard walks you through the steps necessary to import and configure an application that resides on a remote grid. The wizard includes the following steps:
See Importing an application from URL if you are importing an application from a URL.
When you select 'Migrate from Grid', the wizard allows the following fields to be specified:
DNS name or IP address of remote grid from which the application is to be imported (for example, mygrid.ca.net).
Name of application on remote grid that is to be imported.
Optional new name for imported application. If a new name is not specified, the imported application will have the same name as the 'Remote Application Name' specified above.
Note: The 'Import from Grid' option is similar to executing the application migrate command from the grid shell.
Interfaces provide the means for an application to communicate with appliances and the outside world. Raw interfaces are very similar to virtual network interfaces in virtual machines and to NICS (network interface cards) in traditional servers.
The Interface Name and Network fields display. You can specify the IP address or range of IP addresses for the interface by clicking the IP Address field and entering the IP address or displaying the selection list.
In addition, you can configure multiple IP addresses for a single interface. For example, you can run two identical applications on the same grid, but on separate servers, or on different grids, if the IP address is accessible from both grids. To specify multiple IP addresses click the + icon and enter or select the IP address or IP address range. To remove the additional rows, click the - icon.
The Info icon displays the Name Servers and IP Ranges.
Configuration Properties allows you to set values for properties of the application that specialize this instance of the application. This is useful for configuring location-specific parameters, such as IP addresses, and for configuring tuning parameters, such as cache sizes.
The default values of the properties display in ormal font. Property values explicitly configured for this application are in bold. Mandatory property values that are required, but not configured display in red.
For information about the property, its type and allowed values, select the info button. To restore the default value of a property, click the restore icon. Use the Reset All button to reset the values of all properties to their defaults.
The 'Finalizing' dialog of the wizard allows for you to specify the following:
Select this option to disable compression when transferring volumes for the application. This option may speed up the operation if the application contains very large volumes.
Select this option to not cleanup the imported application if a failure is encountered.
The 'Migrating' dialog of the wizard shows the overall progress for the application import operation.
