Patches

This section describes all of the available software patches for this release. Make sure that your grid is updated with the mandatory patches to ensure a properly working grid.

To download a patch, follow these instructions.

BFC Patch for SCR 9075: Corrects an issue with servers added to an upgraded Backbone Fabric Controller (BFC) being discovered with a Power Type of IPMI (degraded)

BFC Patch for SCR 9075

Corrects an issue with servers added to an upgraded Backbone Fabric Controller (BFC) being discovered with a Power Type of IPMI (degraded) as seen in the BFC UI.

Applicability:

Apply this patch to all Backbone Fabric Controller 3.7.0 installations.

Installation command:

Download the patch, and then run one of the following commands:

• If you installed the BFC in the default location (/opt/bfc), run the following command:

  rpm -iv --replacefiles bfc-patch-bug9075-3.7.0-1.i386.rpm
  

• If you installed the BFC in an alternate location, run the following command:

  rpm -iv --replacefiles --prefix <non-standard BFC install location> bfc-patch-bug9075-3.7.0-1.i386.rpm
  

Note:

• After installing the patch, the BFC service is stopped. You must manually restart the BFC using the following command:

  service bfc start
  

• If you want to uninstall this patch, run the following command:

  rpm -e bfc-patch-bug9075-3.7.0-1
  

• You can upgrade a BFC with this patch installed as usual. If you want to uninstall the BFC entirely, you must uninstall this patch first.
• After installing the patch, servers whose Power Type is IPMI (degraded) must be rediscovered as follows:
  1. Ensure the servers are not part of a grid.

     Only servers that are not part of a grid can be rediscovered. If any servers have been added to a grid with the Power Type of IPMI (degraded), they must be removed from the grid, and then added back to the grid after completing this procedure.

  2. On the Servers tab in the BFC UI, select the server you want to rediscover and select Quarantine from the Server Actions drop-down menu.
  3. Select the same server, then select Delete in the Server Actions menu .

     Note: Do not select Prevent Rediscovery in the confirmation box that appears after you click Delete.

  4. Go to the console of the server and manually power on the server so that it gets discovered in the BFC.
