Bare Metal Installation
CA AppLogic supports the installation of the Backbone Fabric Controller directly to new hardware (or to hardware you plan to reformat at the time of the installation). The Bare Metal Installer lets you install CentOS and the BFC from ISO images. You can use the Bare Metal ISO Tool to create a single ISO image which you can use for installations that entail less user interaction.
The Bare Metal Installer supports attended and unattended installation options.
- Attended Installation
-
An attended installation has the following characteristics:
- You work directly with the installation hardware (either locally or remotely).
- You answer the installation questions when prompted.
- As needed, you provide access to installation DVDs or install images, or to a single install image you created using the Bare Metal ISO Tool.
- Unattended Installation
-
An unattended installation has the following characteristics:
- You work with a single install image you prepare using the Bare Metal ISO Tool.
- You configure the user-input configuration BBP file in advance with all the required installation parameters.
- After you insert the memory stick or DVD and reboot, no user interaction is required.
For both attended and unattended installation, you can perform the installation locally (at the machine), or remotely (using a network connection to a remote machine).
