Modifying Appliances to Use SCSI Disks

To provide better disk I/O performance on ESX-based grids for both Windows and Linux appliances, CA AppLogic® now supports the ability for appliances to use SCSI disks as opposed to IDE disks (SCSI disks are only supported in CA AppLogic® 3.1 and higher). This support is intended only for ESX-based grids (there are no benefits using SCSI disks on Xen-based grids).

The following sections describes the steps required to modify an existing appliance built with IDE disks to use SCSI disks.
