These sub-entities define the assembly's terminals.
The terminal entities support the mandatory and shared attributes. Specifying the mandatory attribute indicates that the terminal must be connected. Mandatory terminals will trigger a compilation error in an assembly that includes a component with such an unconnected terminal. Specifying the mandatory attribute for an assembly is not necessary if the subordinate component's terminal to which it is connected is already mandatory.
Specifying the shared attribute permits, but does not require, CA AppLogic® to configure all terminals with this attribute and share the same virtual network device within the VM environment. Terminals that share the same virtual interface conserve system resources and permit operation in VM environments that have limits on the number of interfaces per VM, but has the disadvantage of merging the I/O statistics of all shared terminals when monitoring the appliance.
Important: Currently, shared terminals are not supported for Windows OS and should not be used with Windows-based appliances.
An assembly can have any number of terminals, except for the top-level assembly of an application, which should have no terminals.
