Upgrading Applications to Use Your New DHCP-Based Appliances
You have two options available for upgrading your applications to use your new DHCP-based appliances.
- Upgrade one application at a time for minimal downtime
- Upgrade all applications at one time when downtime is not critical
These options depend on the number of applications that require upgrade and the amount of downtime that your environment can afford.
Upgrade one application at a time
Perform these steps:
- Change the name of the class for the upgraded singleton so that it differs from the original class name.
- Drag the upgraded singleton into the /user catalog or another catalog of your choice. For the remaining steps, /user is assumed.
- Open the application requiring an update with the newly upgraded class.
- Drag-and-drop the new appliance class over the old instances in your application while holding down the Shift key.
This action updates the instance to use the new class and preserves all configuration settings.
- Restart the application and verify it operates correctly.
- Repeat these steps for each application that you want to upgrade.
Upgrade all applications at the same time
Perform these steps:
- Upgrade one application using the steps above.
- Stop all applications using the appliance that was upgraded.
- Right-click the class and select rename option in the GUI to rename the previous appliance class.
- Drag the upgraded singleton into the same catalog as the appliance came from originally.
- Restart all of the applications that you stopped.
