Appliance access to files on the grid controller

Appliances can download files from a secure location on the grid controller through their default HTTP interface. The secure location is http://IP-address:8080/download/.

All appliances can access the files. By default, AppLogic stores files, such as Windows msi and APK tarballs, in this folder. If you have administrator access to the grid, you can place additional files in this directory to ensure availability to all appliances on your grid. In addition, refer to the iso2class command in the Command Line Shell Reference Guide for a list of the files on the grid controller. The Command Line Shell Reference Guide also describes how a running appliance can download files from the grid controller.

Note: You can verify the IP address. Once an IP address has been obtained from the grid controller, the IP address is stored in the lease file found here:

   /etc/applogic/.dhclient.leases

In addition, you can calculate the IP address. The controller backbone IP is in the same subnet as the appliance IP and is assigned the last unicast IP address in the block. Execute ifconfig on the default interface of the appliance and get the broadcast address. The controller’s IP address is one less than this.

For example, in a LUX:

# ifconfig eth4
eth4      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr F2:67:02:00:26:04
          inet addr:1.16.38.3  Bcast:1.23.255.255  Mask:255.248.0.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::f067:2ff:fe00:2604/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:1431 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:1884 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
         collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:142715 (139.3 KiB)  TX bytes:228969 (223.6 KiB)
