How to Deploy CA Strong Authentication on Distributed Systems

Use the lnstallAnywhere Wizard to install CA Strong Authentication components. This Wizard supports Complete and Custom installation types. However, to install and configure CA Strong Authentication in a distributed environment, use the Custom option when you run the installer.

The following steps provide a quick overview of the process:

  1. Run the CA Strong Authentication installer to install CA Strong Authentication Server and CA Advanced Authentication and to configure them to access your SQL database. Web Services can also be installed on the same system.

See "Installing on the First System" for installation instructions.

  2. Execute the database scripts. Verify that the database setup was successful.

See "Running Database Scripts" and "Verifying the Database Setup" for more information.

  3. Prepare the application server to copy the files that CA Web components use.

See "Preparing Your Application Server" for more information.

  4. Deploy CA Advanced Authentication on the application server and verify the deployments.

See "Deploying CA Advanced Authentication" and "Verifying the CA Advanced Authentication" for more information.

  5. Log in to CA Advanced Authentication with the Master Administrator credentials to initialize CA Strong Authentication.

See "Logging In to CA Advanced Authentication" and "Bootstrapping the System" for more information.

  6. Start the CA Strong Authentication Server and verify that the service starts successfully.

See "Starting CA Strong Authentication Server" and "Verifying the Installation" for more information.

  7. Deploy User Data Service on the application server and verify the deployment.

See "Deploying User Data Service" for more information.

  8. Install the Java SDKs and Web Services on one or more systems.

See "Installing on the Second System" for more information.

  9. Deploy, configure, and use Sample Application to test CA Strong Authentication configuration.

Note: To install the Sample Application only, select only the SDKs and Sample Application option and proceed with the installation.

See "Deploying Sample Application", "Configuring Sample Application for Communication with CA Strong Authentication Server", and "Using Sample Application" for more information.

  10. (Optional) To ensure secure communication between CA Strong Authentication components, configure them to support SSL (Secure Socket Layer) transport mode.

See appendix, "Configuring SSL" in CA Strong Authentication Administration Guide for more information.

  11. Complete the installation checklist.

See "Post-Installation Checklist" for more information.
