Recover CA ARCserve D2D Data at File Level Granularity

CA ARCserve Backup lets you recover CA ARCserve D2D backup data at file level granularity from CA ARCserve Backup media. Use these steps when you want to recover individual files, folders, directories, and so on from CA ARCserve Backup media to CA ARCserve D2D servers.

The steps listed below describe how to perform the following recoveries:

Note: The following steps describe how to submit restore jobs using the Restore by Session method. The process of restoring CA ARCserve D2D data and CA ARCserve D2D virtual machine data using the Restore by Tree method is identical to that of all other types of data. For more information about the Restore by Tree method, see "Restoring Data."

To recover CA ARCserve D2D backup data at file level granularity

  1. Open the CA ARCserve Backup Manager Console.

    From the Quick Start menu, click Restore.

    The Restore Manager window opens.

  2. From the drop-down list, click Restore by Session.

    The backup sessions appear in the Session tree.

  3. From the Session tree, expand Sessions and locate the CA ARCserve D2D server that you want to recover.

    Expand the server that you want to recover and locate the session from which you want to recover data at file level granularity.

    Next, click the check boxes next to the files, folders, or directories that you want to recover, as illustrated by the following screen:

  4. Click the Destination tab.

    The Destination options appear.

  5. Verify that the Restore files to their original locations option is specified and then click the Schedule tab.

    The Schedule options appear.

  6. Specify the Schedule options that you require for the job.
  7. Click Options on the toolbar to specify the global options that you require for the job.

  8. Click Submit on the toolbar to submit the job.

    The Restore Media dialog opens to display a list of the media that is required to perform the operation.

  9. If the required media resides on multiple CA ARCserve Backup servers, click the drop-down list and specify the backup server that you want to execute the job and then click OK.

    The Session User Name and Password dialog opens.

  10. On the Session User Name and Password dialog, edit or confirm the user name and password that is required to access the sessions and click OK.

    The Submit Job dialog opens.

  11. Complete the required fields on the Submit Job dialog and click OK.

    The job is submitted.
