CA ARCserve D2D Backup Jobs Fail When Submitted from the Backup Manager

Valid on Windows Platforms.

Symptom:

When you submit CA ARCserve D2D backups from the Backup Manager, the jobs fail when the source data includes CA ARCserve D2D sessions that were backed up previously by CA ARCserve Backup. Error message AW0813 appears in the Activity Log.

Solution:

This is expected behavior. If a backup job consists of CA ARCserve D2D sessions that were backed up previously, CA ARCserve Backup fails the job and reports error message AW0813 in the Activity Log. This behavior is designed to help prevent backing up CA ARCserve D2D data redundantly.

If you want to modify this behavior to allow CA ARCserve Backup to back up CA ARCserve D2D sessions that were backed up previously, do the following:

  1. From the CA ARCserve D2D server (node) that you are backing up, open Windows Registry Editor.
  2. Open the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\ClientAgent\Parameters\AllowRedundantD2DBackups

  3. Change the DWORD value of AllowRedundantD2DBackups to 1.

Note: If the above-described Registry key is not present on the node that you are backing up, you must create the key.

  4. Close Windows Registry Editor.
