If you decide to share databases, test the CA ACF2 for z/VM database recovery procedures thoroughly. Databases that fail and are shared by multiple systems can cause all systems to fail. Keep alternate databases current. All CA ACF2 for z/VM products provide automatic database backup options that you can use to ensure that alternate databases are always available.
