Basic Process
An incremental synchronization synchronizes only the changes made to CA ACF2 Option for DB2 and to newly‑created resources in the DB2 catalog. As we discussed earlier, this process consists of the execution of three or four programs: CADB2SY0, CADB2SY1, CADB2SY2, and CADB2SY3. The first two programs, CADB2SY0 and CADB2SY1, provide an automated way of generating CADB2SY2 synchronization control statements to selectively synchronize users and resources that contain authorization changes in CA ACF2 Option for DB2 and newly‑created resources in the DB2 catalog. The last two programs, CADB2SY2 and CADB2SY3, are used for a selective synchronization.
The following steps outline information needed to familiarize yourself with the incremental synchronization process.
- Create a logonid, create and change DB2 rules and create a resource in the DB2 catalog that has a predefined rule in CA ACF2 Option for DB2.
- Run the CADB2SY1 program for one of your DB2 subsystems to extract the changes made to CA ACF2 Option for DB2 and to generate the CADB2SY2 synchronization control statements. Review the CADB2SY1 report to find out what users and resources are to be synchronized based upon the changes you made. Notice, however, that the first batch of control statements is for new users and the second batch of control statements is for DB2 rule changes and newly‑created resources.
- Run the CADB2SY0 program to extract the changes made to CA ACF2 Option for DB2 and to create a smaller SMF file with these changes. Next, using the SMF file created by CADB2SY0, run the CADB2SY1 program for each of your DB2 subsystems to generate the CADB2SY2 synchronization control statements for each of these subsystems.
