Use the TMSUDSNB utility to update or verify any field in TMC Control Records or DSNB records.
CA 1 must be active or batch active to run TMSUDSNB.
If more than one type of expiration date is found in a volume when a DSNB is created, a warning message is issued if MIXEXP is set to WARNING in member TMOOPTxx of hlq.CTAPOPTN during installation. The warning message is:
Important! Only systems programmers responsible for maintaining CA 1 should use this program.
You can also activate or deactivate the UNIQUE_RNAME feature by turning the x'40' bit ON (activate) or OFF (deactivate) in FLAG1 of CTL#1. Before you change this indicator (ON to OFF or OFF to ON), stop tape processing on all systems that share the TMC. After you change the flag setting, run TMSINIT on all active systems that share the TMC. Then allow tape processing to continue.
If the RNAME bit in FLAG1 x'40' is changed from on to off or from off to on, the return code changes from 00 to 04 and the following warning message is issued:
If you use an unextended TMC and attempt to turn on the RNAME bit in FLAG1 (x'40'), the processing stops with the return code 12 and the following message:
Important! When multiple LPARs share the TMC or if tape processing is active on more than one system, activate or deactivate the UNIQUE_RNAME feature using the TMSXTEND utility.
Note: Verify if all systems sharing the TMC are at the appropriate maintenance level to allow the UNIQUE_RNAME feature to be enabled. Run TMSAUDEX and validate that all systems sharing the TMC have a "Y" under the URC column in TMS-REPORT-81.
